Full day class, offered once
Friday, April 22nd – 9am-5pm (noon-2pm break)
In this class we will unravel the mystery of twist. First, we will look at how to measure twist and then practice ways of increasing or decreasing it in our yarn. Then, we’ll talk about some projects and decide how much twist they might need and make samples. We will also spin different fibers to see that twist is not a one size fits all proposition.
Using some of our samples we will look at how twist affects plying. How do you make a balanced yarn and what happens if you overply or underply? We will work on spinning a well behaved single and some multiply yarns. And if you have some already plied yarn with issues we will play with some hints and tricks to help them behave.
At the end of the class twist won’t be so mysterious after all.
