TAUGHT BY MAGGIE CASEY

It all starts with a fleece

Full Day Class, offered twice

Wednesday April 19th, 9am-5pm (noon-2pm break)

Friday April 21st, 9am-5pm (noon-2pm break)

Did you accidentally come home with a fleece and now you’re wondering what to do? Or do you want to purchase one but aren’t sure where to start or what to do with it once you have it? This class will help. We will talk about choosing a fleece and what a spinner should look for. Then we’ll dig in and prepare fibers from a fine, medium and long fleece. We will card and comb and spin some woolen and worsted yarns and ply them. We’ll talk about ideas for projects that might be perfect for your fleece.

You will have enough wool to make samples so you can discover the perfect combination of preparation and spinning for your project.

Materials Fee:  $30

Level:  Students should be able to spin a continuous yarn and be comfortable with their wheel.

STUDENTS SHOULD BRING

  • A Spinning wheel in good working condition and all its parts
  • Lazy Kate
  • at least 3 bobbins (or storage bobbins)
  • Wool hand cards
  • Combs if you already own them.
