TAUGHT BY Longdraw James Perry

Woolen: from Fiber to Finishing

Full day class, offered twice

Wednesday, April 20th

Saturday, April 23rd

9am-5pm (noon-2pm break)

Have you ever lusted after lofty, woollen yarns but always been too scared to spin them? Got that short stapled fiber that gives you nightmares? Well this is the class for you!
We will discuss handcarding focusing on producing rolags for your spinning and will then discuss how to spin them to give you a true woollen yarn. We will then move into the longdraw variants including American longdraw (point of contact) and double drafting from a range of fiber preps and fibers. Through all of this, we will also delve into plying and finishing of your yarns so that you can make the woollen yarns of your dreams!

Materials fee: $30 and includes all you’ll need: 100g down breed roving, 100g down breed fleece, 100g wool top, 50g yak/camel down, 25g silk sliver, 50g camel/silk

Skill Level: must be able to spin and ply (can be new to woolen spinning)
