TAUGHT BY JUDITH MACKENZIE

Spinning for Hands that Weave

Wednesday, April 15th – Full Day Class

What could be more satisfying than making beautiful cloth with yarns you have designed and spun?  In this class we’ll look at how to spin for both warp and weft.  We’ll spin a wide variety of fibers including flax, silk and a range of wools.  You will also learn how to support delicate warps like cashmere, camel or qiviut.  We’ll learn to make several novelty yarns that add wonderful texture to cloth and help to keep it light weight and resilient.  No matter what type of loom you use, understanding how to create different textures, colors and hand in your yarns will give your fabric your own unique signature.

Materials Fee:  $40

Level: Beginner & Above
