TAUGHT BY LIZ GIPSON

Rigid Heddle Colorwork

Full Day Class
Thursday, April 16th
9am-5pm with 12pm-2pm break

Have you tackled the basics of rigid-heddle weaving and ready to branch out from solid-colored warps? In this class students will learn the fundamental techniques for combining colors in warp and weft. Starting with a variation of the direct warping method, students will be introduced to the magic of Color-and-Weave and warp those pesky odd numbered ends in the warp. Then we will move onto fundamental know-how the all weavers need—how to manage multiple shuttles, minding your edges, make seamless color transitions. Students will weave a shorty scarf in class and should have warped and woven a project on their own a couple of times.

Material Fee: $25 – includes loom rental, yarn, and handouts.

Level: Beginner

STUDENTS SHOULD BRING

Since Color-and-Weave is dependent on yarn size and color relationships, yarns will be provided. Looms (cricket) will be as well. You are welcome to bring your own loom if you wish. You need a rigid-heddle loom in good working order with an 8-dent rigid-heddle; clamps, warping peg, threading hook, 2 shuttles; as well as basic workshops supplies, scissors, tape measure, tapestry needle.
