Rare Breed Trek - a Hands-On Exploration of Historic Sheep Breeds

Wednesday, April 15th or Saturday, April 18th
PM Half Day Class

In this class we will compare, contrast, prep, and spin the fleece of 3-5 heritage or rare breeds of sheep, learning both history and applications for today. If you’re curious about life outside of Merino top, this class is for you! This class will expose you to several different types of rare breeds, from critically endangered American sheep to primitive sheep brought to this country centuries ago, we’ll trek through them and maybe even find a new favorite! This is a companion class to the Ply Magazine series “Sheep on the Edge” as well!

Material fee: $25

Level: Beginner and above

STUDENTS SHOULD BRING

  • Basic fiber prep equipment if you have it (cards, flicker)
  •  wheel (with all working parts) or spindle
