Luscious Longwools: wool combing and different breeds

Half day class, offered twice

Thursday, April 20th –  9am -noon
Friday, April 21st – 2pm-5pm

Longwools are a breed classification synonymous with lustre, drape and silky hand. The focus of this class is to take you through the longwool class from the finest to the coarsest, in each case discussing spinning, plying and potential end uses of each of the breeds discussed. Preparation will be discussed but we will mostly be working with combed top except for showing you a quick and easy way to prepare longwools without the need for lots of combing equipment.

Materials fee: $25

Level: Beginner & Above

STUDENTS SHOULD BRING

  • A working wheel and all its parts
  • 2-3 bobbins
  • lazy kate
  • flick carder (or a single hand card)
