Students will learn techniques and basic rules for blending different fibers together in batts that can be spun into yarns with integrity. Topics covered will include which fibers can be added to enhance strength, wearability, softness, or warmth, and the effects and suggested spinning techniques of different preparations. Students will work with a variety of fibers and will produce and take home several batts to explore the theories discussed in class. All carding and blending will be done on our Elite Series Drum Carders with each student using their own electric carder. All materials, carders, and tools will be provided by the instructors.
Materials Fee: $30 – covers use of a carder, all fiber carded during class, and batt lifter refills for storing carded batts.
