TAUGHT BY Stephenie Gaustad

Distaff: History and Use

Half day class, offered twice

Tuesday, April 18th,  9am-noon

Saturday, April 22nd,  2pm-5pm

The distaff is often considered to be just a flax spinners tool. Line flax with great length does need the support a distaff can offer. But from time to time, every spinner could use an extra hand, no matter if you are spinning wool, silk, cashmere or hemp. A distaff doesn’t need to be fancy or costly. Many common tools can be used as distaves. Experience advantages that come from using a hand held, belt, free standing and wrist distaff.

Materials fee: $15

Class Level: Can spin a continuous thread
