Color without a Dyepot

Half day class, offered once

Tuesday, April 18th – 2pm-5pm

In this class, we’ll look at three ways to produce beautiful and individual color without needing to dye. We’ll learn to blend fiber, to glaze one color over another and how to make tweed and heathered yarns. We’ll work with a variety of fibers including silk, merino, alpaca, and kid mohair. We’ll learn some new spinning techniques, explore some color theories and make some very beautiful yarns.

Materials fee: $20

Level: Students should have a good working relationship with their wheel and be capable of spinning a stable, consistent single.

STUDENTS SHOULD BRING

  • Bring your spinning wheel
  • a kate
  • handcards if you have them
  • Bring knitting needles in a range you like to knit in if you like
