Friday, April 12th – 1 Day Class
9am-5pm with 12pm-2pm break
The rayons are an altogether different kind of fiber and they deserve a full day of spinning (at least). This fiber is slick and slippery and soft and smooth and you can make wonderful and useful yarns from them. Come explore Bamboo, Ramie (actually a bast fiber but is processed so that we spin it more like the “rayon”), Soy, Banana and more. Each fiber has its own personality and special needs and thus we will take each fiber separately and learn the best way to spin it, finish it, and use it. If time is available we will do some blending too! By the end of the day you’ll have been introduced to new and exciting rayon fibers, learned to adjust your wheel for these slippery fibers, learned spinning techniques for each fiber, blended these fibers with others, and learned about uses and care of your new yarns.
Materials fee: $15
Level: Must be comfortable with the wheel and spinning singles but no experience with rayon fibers needed.
