April 25, Tuesday – 1 Day Class
We are all familiar with Merino. It is pervasive, universal and widespread. But what if I told you there were other wools that are similarly soft yet stronger? What if I told you that these wools could be easily acquired? Pretty soon they will be the not-so-sleeping beauties and this class will guide you to waking them up and spreading their beauty.
We will take our time and explore 5 fine wools and one that is not so fine but surprising in its handle. Beginning with already scoured fleece, we will experiment with these breeds and make some small swatches to see the true beauty and possibility that lie within.
We will make plenty of samples using a variety of processing and spinning techniques. With direction and encouragement you will branch out and experiment and walk away with a new set of fine fibers to marvel at.
Materials fee $35
