April 27, Thursday – AM Half Day Class
Have you ever been confused by terms such as brick, lap, mawata, hanky, waste, noil, muga, eri, tussah or mulberry silk? Well, this is the tasting class for you! Participants will feast on a variety of silks available to spinners today and learn appropriate drafting techniques for each. Participants will blend silk with other exotic fibres to create luxurious yarns for that special project.
A perfect companion class to this one is John Mullarkey’s Intro to Card Weaving with Silk. No weaving experience needed but loads of fun!
Materials fee $30
• Spinning wheel with extra bobbins or spindles of several different weights/sizes
• Lazy Kate
• Hand cards
• Niddy noddy.
Equipment should be in good working order, and students must know how to use their equipment, whether it is a wheel or a spindle.
