April 28th, Friday – 1 Day Class
Are you ready to broaden your spinning horizons? Have you ever marveled at tailspun or lockspun yarn, peered at coiled yarn with glee, wishing you could create that look or wishing you knew a different, a better way to do it? This is the class for you!
First you’ll learn how to prepare clean curly fleece (such as Teeswater, Wensleydale, Mohair, or any intact locks) for spinning. Then learn the “Magic Thumb” technique for lockspinning a yarn without using a core yarn. This method results in a beautiful, dependable yarn which enhances the curl and natural structure of the lock. There will be ample time to spin the yarn, with lots of enthusiastic hands-on individual assistance from Laura. During the second part you will learn to beautifully coil ply the lockspun yarn and how to finish these fascinating yarns (washing, setting twist, drying). This class will challenge you and teach you a skill set you may not even know you want but will thoroughly enjoy.
Materials fee $50
