April 29, Saturday – PM Half Day Class
Did you ever go to a summer camp or similar, that had field days? Instead of the routine drudgery of free swim punctuated by arts and crafts and swimming lessons, you’d go out and have pie eating contests, three-legged races, and log rolling? This class is like that, but for spinners. So instead of pies, we’ll be racing to spin fibers; instead of a three-legged race, we’ll have a “longest long draw team” contest; instead of a relay race we’ll have a two-person drafting relay; and we won’t roll logs, we’ll rolags. But wait! How is this a class? Because these are all lighthearted and fun exercises I use in other classes, and they really work for refining your own control over your drafting and fiber supply. It’s hard to imagine what you learn from keeping a long draw going out the door and around the corner before you wind on, until you do it. And yes, there will be ribbons and prizes, but I can’t promise ice cream.
Materials fee $20
Best suited for those who can already spin at least a little.
